Marie Stott (nee St Clair) was born in Yass. She was one of eleven children of Percy and Elsie St Clair. 

The family lived in Goondah, Cootamundra and Bungendore before settling in Canberra at 118 The Causeway in 1960. 

Marie and her siblings attended Griffith Primary School and Telopea Park High School. 

Marie married in 1969 and left the Causeway.
