Sensory Story Time & Supporting Resources

Sensory Story Time and supporting resources

18 February - 15 April | Fridays fortnightly

In conjunction with EACH*, Libraries ACT is excited to bring Sensory Story Time to the library.

Sensory Story Time is aimed at engaging your child in activities supporting the development of social play and literacy. We will model appropriate behaviours while reading a story and exploring simple questions about the narrative.

We will explore and engage our seven senses throughout. Sensory Story Time is aimed at those who are living with autism or who are living with challenges related to sensory experiences. However, it can be of benefit for all children.

*EACH is the registered ACT service provider for NDIS Early Childhood Intervention Supports (ages 0 – 6).

Supporting resources for Term 1

Before attending the session you have registered for, read this Story Time at the Library Social Story (PDF 1.69MB) with your child to prepare them for what to expect at Libraries ACT story times.

We will be reading one story at each session. If you and your child would like to enjoy the story before or after the session as well, you can find them on Story Box Library - a wonderful digital resource where children can watch celebrated stories read aloud by great storytellers. You can also find more details about the story and try a fun activity.

You will need to have a library membership to access Story Box Library. It is free to become a member and you can join online or at any of our library branches.
