The Canberra Theatre Centre opened in 1965 as two separate buildings linked by an open-sided covered walkway. In 1971 the walkway was enclosed to create a larger foyer and function space, and in 2006 a new Link and Civic Library were opened. Thespis, originally in a pool in Civic Square in front of the Theatre Centre, was relocated to a glass-enclosed courtyard at the rear of the Link, and a new sculpture, Fractal Weave, was commissioned for the front, positioned where the new Library building joins the Theatre Centre.

Neil McRitchie photographed the process during 2004 – 2006. A complete record is held at the Canberra Theatre Centre, and a set was copied to compact disc and deposited with the ACT Heritage Library in 2007. Almost all images are .jpg and in colour.
