The Canberra Cat Fanciers Association first met in 1982 at the home of Barbara McLachlan. Foundation members were Barbara McLachlan, Sue Gordon, Linda Muldoon, Hope Harvey, Bruce Evans and Donna Lederhose. The Club incorporated in 1993.
The meeting decided to combine the assets of the Monaro Cat Club and the ACT Cat Breeders Association, neither of which had operated for several years.
An all breed club, the Canberra Cat Fanciers Association, held shows and particpated in displays at local functions. It was the first club in Canberra to allow desexed domestic cats to enter shows.
The club and its members supported the desexing of all animals outside registered breeding establishment and the catching and humane disposal of feral animals. it encouraged unregisterd, backyard breeders to join the local registery body and abide by the rules and regulations of that body.
The Canberra Cat Fanciers Association, Inc. was dissolved at a Special General Meeting on 9 January 2007.
The papers in this collection are those of member and past president Diane Royal.
