Val and Don Emerton are long-time residents of Canberra. They were heavily involved the Canberra Stories Group. Val was compiler of a book for the Group, Past Images, Present Voices : Kingston and thereabouts through a Box Brownie, published in 1996. Drafts and research notes for this book form part of the collection.

The Emerton's interest in Canberra's heritage is wide-rangeing. Also in this collection is information from the Save Our Hosptial Committee (concerning preservation of the Royal Canberra Hospital) and the 1995 review of the City Hill Master Plan.

ACT residents may borrow a copy of Past Images, Present Voices : Kingston and thereabouts through a Box Brownie through the ACT Public Library. Non-residents can request the book by inter-library loan through your local public library.
