Scope and Content Notes 

The Articles of Association state that the purpose of the association is “Community arts, which includes community –theatre, increases the confidence and the competency of individuals in the community to make their own art. It fosters a sense of enriching and enlivening the arts and the culture of the arts.”

“To provide a channel for groups with the community to explore, discover, develop and express their own culture and identity.”

The Association was originally called TAU Community Theatre Association but incorporated under the name Upfront Community Theatre Association as at 14 March 1991.  TAU was the acronym for Through Arts Unity.

Also involved in both TAU and Upfront were Dominic Mico, Tina Van Ray, Carole Woodrow and Eulea Kiraly.

Early records for TAU Community Theatre and Upfront Community Theatre may be found in the papers of Kate McNamara which are lodged with the National Library of Australia.
