Libraries ACT is bringing back its popular Bilingual Story Time program for 2026, offering families an engaging opportunity to experience stories in Mandarin, Nepali and Spanish across 3 library branches in Canberra.
Running on select Saturdays each month from 10:30 am - 11:30 am until November 2026, the sessions are designed to support early literacy while celebrating the linguistic and cultural diversity of the ACT community.
The program highlights Libraries ACT’s ongoing commitment to cultural inclusion and representation, reflecting the many multicultural communities that call Canberra home. By hearing stories read in multiple languages, children are introduced to different sounds, rhythms and expressions, helping to foster curiosity, cultural understanding and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Each session features age-appropriate stories delivered in both English and the featured language, creating an inclusive environment for children and carers from all backgrounds. Families do not need to be fluent in the language to participate, with the program especially welcoming to those curious about learning something new.
