Canberra Children's Choir 1971-2014

Item List last updated 17 February 2016

A list of performances by the Canberra Children's Choir, for which the ACT Heritage Library holds documentary evidence.

The Canberra Children’s Choir was established in 1967, with 35 children, by Judith Clingan, a multi award winning and well recognised director, writer, conductor, singer, educator and more. Judith was made Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1986.

The philosophies of Zoltan Kodaly and Carl Orff are used, whereby, movement and instrumental work are combined with voice training. Children of all ages can participate in the choir.

The choir participates in number of performing opportunities including family sing-alongs, concerts and local competitions or events such as Floriade and the National Eisteddfod. They have also performed at a range of Canberra venues such as the Llewellyn Hall, the School of Music Auditorium, the High Court of Australia and St Paul's Anglican Church in Manuka. The music and arrangements selected vary in genre from contemporary to classic, sacred to secular.

2017 marks the year in which the Canberra Children’s Choir celebrates it’s 50th anniversary.

The collection is arranged chronologically from the first held document to the most recent. To search use the “Find” functions of your software, such as Ctrl-F, and enter your search term.
