Born and raised in Canberra, Christopher (Chris) Ware studied horticulture at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) in Weston from 1985-1987. He finished his apprenticeship with the then City Parks Administration.  A few years later became a turf manager.

After a move to Perth with his family in 1990, Chris returned to Canberra with his family for better career prospects. He became the Director of ACT NOWaste before becoming General Manager for Yarralumla Nursery in 2014.

This collection contains Chris’s personal copies of three setout drawings of the first Canberra Floriade at Commonwealth Park in 1988. Chris was a member of the horticulture team who worked on the first Floriade. The planting drawings were done by Chris and the design was by landscape architect Christopher de Bruine.
