This silk scarf is 64 cm square, with images and border woven in red, yellow, brown and olive green on an off-white background. The centre image is Parliament House, in a square with the word ‘Canberra’ along each side. Around the sides of the scarf are named images of the Australian War Memorial, Institute of Anatomy, American Embassy, Cotter Dam, Swedish Legation, St John’s Church, Academy of Science and an unnamed image of blossom trees.
The scarf was designed by Iris Millington, whose name appears in one corner. Millington was an illustrator, mainly of children's books, during the 1960s. The silk threads are separating in several places but otherwise the scarf is in reasonably good condition.
