The New Association for Modern Education (New AME) was incorporated in 2011 to plan and implement the celebration in 2012 of the 40th anniversary of the formation of the Association for Modern Education (AME) and the AME School in 1972, and to develop an AME History Project. Having achieved its objectives, it disbanded in 2014.

The AME School ran from 1972 to 1996, at Duntroon until 1976 and from 1977 at Weston. Initially a primary school, it soon included secondary students. The first AME committee was chaired by Peter Herbst, Professor of Philosophy at the Australian National University (ANU).

The New AME includes material related to the history of the AME School and to the 40 year Reunion, and includes papers from founding members of the AME community including Peter Herbst and Peter Dawson. During the Reunion audio and video interviews of past students, staff, committee members, parents and others were recorded. At the Reunion Picnic a historical timeline was created using photographs, films and artefacts, to which people were encouraged to add their photographs and anecdotes. The Timeline and related material are included in the New AME collection.

Other significant documents include those from Daryl Jackson and Evan Walker, architects of the Weston buildings. Jackson noted in 2012 that his work with the AME community became a blueprint for his subsequent work in educational architecture internationally.
