Albert Edward Wright was a descendant of the pioneering Wright and Davis families of Lanyon, Cuppacumbalong and Tombong.  He was a long term member of the Canberra and District Historical Society (CDHS), serving as its secretary in the early 1950s.  Bert constructed the first private house in Canberra at 28 Wentworth Avenue, Kingston.

This collection of personal papers of his membership of the Historical Society includes CDHS meeting papers, excursion notes and annual programmes of activities of the Society. CDHS publications have been incorporated into the library’s publications collection.
