The St Patrick's Roman Branch of the Canberra Catholic Women's League commenced in 1946.
At its first Annual General Meeting, the members resolved to operate a Tuck Shop at St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Braddon to provide a nourishg and cheap lunch to the children attending the school and formed a sub-committee or organise and staff the canteen.
The Tuck Shop proved popular and successful. The Sub-committee were able to raise significant sums to support the school with equipment, library books and improvements to the canteen as well as feed the children.
