Thomas Halsey was a public servant in the Commonwealth Department of Immigration. He migrated to Australia from Hungary in the late 1940s.

These four albums were donated to the ACT Heritage Library by Mrs Eva Hancock. The albums were given to Mrs Hancock by the ex-wife of Thomas Halsey, Alice Halsey, who appears in the photos in the early 1950s. Alice worked at CSIRO. The Halseys did not have any children and Mrs Halsey was in the process of discarding the albums when Mrs Hancock intervened.

The albums contain family snapshots of Thomas Halsey as a young boy/man in his home country as well as many European holiday destinations.  Upon arrival in Australia and life in Canberra, he continued his love of photography, bush-walking, skiing and enjoying the landscape of the ACT and other holiday spots around New South Wales and the rest of Australia, including the Northern Territory.

The Photographs are black and white, small format and in good condition and of good quality.
