The ACT Opera and Music Theatre incorporated on 26 November 1985 . The first meeting, chaired by Sir Richard Kingsland was held at "Huntly", home of John Gale on 5 Feb 1985. The group was known as Opera ACT. It staged eight operas between 1985 and 1991 and was involved in two festival concerts. Opera ACT ceased productions in 1991 and ceased operating in 1993. It was liquidated in 2002.
