John Harold Burns was 36 years of age when this licence was issued on 27 May 1934. 

According to the electoral registers issued between 1935 and 1967, his occupation was "Patents Examiner" and his wife's name was Muriel.

In the 1943 register, they were living at West Row in Civic.  The 1949 and subsequent registers has them living at 19 Moore Street, Turner.

John and Muriel were active in the community.  John served as president of the Turner Progress and Welfare Association in the 1940s and Muriel was involved with the Country Women's Association.

They had one daughter, Dorothy Muriel.  Her engagement to married was announced in the Canberra Times on 30 September 1947, page 2.  She and Thorald Bruce Macdonald married at St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Forrest on 30 April 1949.
