John Harris was a pupil at Ainslie Primary School. He was Boys' Vice-Captain and Dux in 1943, as well as editor of the school magazine - The Beacon.
John's father, Robert Harris, was Principal of Ainslie Primary School until after World War 2, when he transferred to Ryde Primary School in Sydney.
Ainslie Primary School had its own printery, and most of the items in this collection were printed by hand by the pupils. The illustrations are, largely, colour linocuts made by the pupils.
John Harris donated these items as a collection to the ACT Heritage Library in December 2007.
