The Victorian League for Commonwealth Friendship was formed in London in memory of Queen Victoria with an aim of promoting friendship. In 1935 a Canberra branch was formed. In 1937 a Young Contingent was formed. This group was particularly active during the war years.

 

During the 1950s the interests of the Young Contingent were centred on helping local disabled and disadvantaged children’s organisations.

 

In 1977 the Young members group was disbanded and the Elizabethan Group was formed with no age limitations.

 

In 1977 the Elizabethan Group combined with the Victorian Group
