Scullin Primary School opened in 1970. A Parents' and Citizens' Association to support the school, particularly by fund-raising, began in the same year.
Scullin Primary School changed its name to Southern Cross Primary School in 1989 and ceased operating as a primary school in December 2008. It reopened in 2009 as the Southern Cross Early Childhood School catering for children from preschool to Year 2 and childcare for children aged 0-8 years.
With the cessation of the Primary School, the Parents' and Citizens' Association closed the school canteen and after school care service that it had operated. The Association continues to be incorporated as the Scullin Primary School Parents' and Citizens' Association but works on behalf of the Southern Cross Early Childhood School.
