Ernest H. Borman lived on River Street, Oaks Estate in 1914 and worked at Duntroon, the Canberra Power House and on the Hospital Laundry, Acton. In the 1916, 1917 electoral rolls he is recorded as living at Duntroon and his occupation is listed as plumber.
This Lett’s pocket diary for 1914 was found at the tip and loaned to Ann Gugler in May 1994. She made a copy for herself and the for ACT Heritage Library.
The diary records
- the details of building jobs in which Boreman was privately engaged, including cost of purchase of materials and labour and cost of accommodation if away from home.
- hours worked and pay received for contract work
- household expenses
