The Colophon Society of Canberra inaugurate on 7 June 1977 at a meeting at the Forrest Lodge Motor in chaired by Pat Croft.
The aim of the Society was to promote the highest standards in book creation, production and distribution and to hold social and inrformational meetings addressed by local speakers on topics such as authorship, editing, design and illustration, production, publishing and distribution.
The Society offered an annual Canberra Book of the Year Award for a book written, designed, printed or published in the ACT.
The Society ceased operation sometime after 1986.
