The Canberra Women’s Bowling Club, located on Wentworth Avenue Kingston, was founded in 1957 and disbanded in 1992. The site was sold in 1990, the members subsequently being given time to wind up operations.

The Canberra Women’s Bowling Club was the first all women’s bowling club in Canberra. Until 1957 only the wives or sisters of Canberra City Bowling Club members could play. The Canberra Women’s Bowling Club's closure was occasioned by dwindling membership and inflation. Membership peaked during the 1960s at about 136 and later dropped to 46.

The Club was inaugurated on 10th October 1957. Until the opening of the Kingston green and clubhouse, members played on the Parliament House green, at the Canberra Bowling Club and on the private green at the Victoria Hotel in Queanbeyan. The first green on the Kingston site was installed in 1958 and the second in 1969. The clubhouse was officially opened on 25th February 1961.

On 13th December 1991 the club, as an association, was wound up in the Supreme Court. It is believed to be the first association to be wound up under self-government.

The records, which date cover the entire period of the club’s history, range from minutes; reports, financial records and business files to photographs and objects (including honour boards). The records were presented to the Library in 1993.
