The Association began in 1976 as the ACT Batik Association, was incorporated in 1992, then the name changed to the ACT Batik & Surface Design Association Inc.
In 1998 it was again renamed to Textile Art & Surface Design Association Inc. ACT (TASDA) to reflect the range of talents, varied techniques and expertise of its members. TASDA is a non-profit organisation whose members are interested in the design and embellishment of textiles which they use to produce wearable art, wall hangings, paintings, sculptural forms, jewellery, bags, hats, accessories and household items.
