Note: These records were transferred from the National Library of Australia 14th June 1992.

The stated objectives of the ACT Advance of Education Council are to advance education in the ACT by

1  Persuading the Government and the Department of Interior to make adequate provision to meet the education needs of the people

2  Popularising and organising public support for the advance of education

3  Investigating the educational needs of the ACT and the Commonwealth by publicising their findings.

The Council consists of delegates from the National Council of Women, ACT Trades and Labour Council, Canberra Pre-School Society, ACT Progress and Welfare Council, Canberra Mothercraft Society, Library Association of Australia (ACT Branch).

The Council is to be a non-party political and non-sectarian organisation. The Council hold i8nquiries into different aspects of ACT education and publish findings.
