Make your own story stones and use them for interactive storytelling. Story stones are designed to be used by anyone, from the tiniest storytellers to adults. They use objects to represent concepts, ideas and characters, and to play with language. When children know how stories work, their journey of learning to write and read is more meaningful and successful. No bookings needed. Sessions are 10.30 - 11.15 am.
Experience our enormously popular program for babies and toddlers, and their parents and caregivers. We sing songs, move around and share rhymes. Parents are their children’s first teachers, and Giggle & Wiggle aims to help you boost your child’s language development, all while having a great time. No bookings needed. Caterpillars are important inhabitants of our environment and one is the star of Eric Carle’s book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Celebrate the 50th anniversary of this much-loved book, by listening to the story and enjoying a related hands-on activity. No bookings needed. Sessions are 10.30 - 11.15 am.
Join us at Floriade for bilingual story times to celebrate and share some of the languages and cultures that make Canberra, and Australia, so rich and diverse. We’ll present stories, language and a related activity. Join us if you are bilingual already, or just want to learn about another language. 11 am 21 Sept (Thai), 28 Sept (Hindi), 5 Oct (Indonesian) and 12 Oct (Mandarin).
Explore the concepts of renewable energy and build your own wind turbine. Students will then program their creation using LEGO® Mindstorms™ software and make it move. The addition of touch and ultrasonic sensors provides an extra layer of complexity (and fun!) that students will love.
