Virtual National Simultaneous Storytime with Libraries ACT

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is an annual event held by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), where a picture book written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator is read simultaneously across libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
This year NSS is in its 20th year, and even though we will be running it virtually, it will still be fabulously colourful, vibrant and fun. So please invite all your friends, family and neighbours to Spread the word and help make #NSS2020 the biggest one ever with #1millionkidsreading!
This year’s feature book is Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford and published by Scholastic. Set your inner Diva free and enjoy the story with our special guest readers including:

Libraries ACT NSS 2020 Photo Competition
Get your most glitzy, glamorous costumes on and enter the Libraries ACT photo competition by dressing up as your best Chicken Diva. Then join our National Simultaneous Storytime Facebook event page and share your photos with us.
Our guest judges will pick the top three most spectacular and creative entries to win these prizes:
- 1st prize: Book pack with 9 books, NSS 2020 sticker sheet and a bookmark
- 2nd prize: Book pack with 6 books, NSS 2020 sticker sheet and a bookmark
- 3rd prize: Book pack with 4 books, NSS 2020 sticker sheet and a bookmark
Five highly commended prizes will also be awarded. The winners will be announced on theFacebook event page on Monday 15 June 2020.
If you know anyone who would like to enter, but are not on Facebook, entries can also be emailed to email@example.com. All entries will also become part of the ACT Heritage Library’s collection to preserve how our community has celebrated NSS2020.
