This draft history of Government House, Canberra, was prepared by Michael Royce Wilmot (3 June 1934-16 December 2004).

Michael was Private Secretary to Governor General Sir John Kerr, working at Government House, Canberra.

On Sir John's retirement, Michael continued in the same capacity for Sir Zelman Cowan for a short period and was then given the task of researching and writing the history of Government House and its historical property, Yarraluma.

Michael researched and prepared a history of the house from its beginnings as Yarralumla Homestead and took other employment on completion of the manuscript.  The work was not published.

Michael's research papers and manuscript are donated by his widow Pamela.
