It’s free to join Libraries ACT – all you need is photo ID and proof of your address to access hundreds of thousands of books, magazines, DVDs, eBooks books, electronic resources and much more.
You can to join if you live, work or study in the ACT region.
Visit any of our branches or complete the online membership form. You will need:
- Photo ID e.g. driver’s licence or passport
- Proof of address e.g. driver’s licence, health care card or bill
- If you are under 16 you will also need the signature of a parent or guardian or proof of independent status
We are unable to accept membership applications from interstate or overseas applicants.
If you join online, your membership card will be mailed to your address within about a week. You can then access online resources and search the library catalogue. To use the card inside a branch, take your card along with photo ID and proof of address to the branch to activate.
If you are experiencing homelessness, please speak to one of our staff about how we can offer you library membership.
If your card is lost or stolen:
Please contact us immediately as you are responsible for all items borrowed on your membership.
To replace your card, please visit one of our branches with proof of identity and address. You will be charged a small fee to replace your card.
