Request Library Items

It is easy and free to request library items for pick up at your local library. You will need your Library Number and a PIN. For help with a PIN ask at your local library or phone our Customer Information Centre.
Check your Hold Requests.

How to make a Hold Request?
- First search for the title you want.
- Click on the Request Item button to the right of the title you want.
- Select the library you want to pick the item up from and click on Request.
Important Note. When making a Hold Request DO NOT click the button Request Copy unless you specifically want that particular copy. An example of when you would use Request Copy is when you are making a Hold Request for a specific issue of a magazine.
How long does it take? If the item is available for loan a request will take between 2 to 3 days from the time the request is submitted to when it arrives at your library. If the item is on-loan then you will be notified when the item is ready for pick up.
What you cannot request? Items located at the ACT Government and Assembly Library are not available to be requested by the general public.
Going on holidays? If you are going on holidays and don't want to miss out on your requests you should Suspend them before you leave and Reactivate them when you return. You wont lose your place and you wont miss out. Suspending some requests is also useful if you have made a large number of requests or requests of series titles and you don't want them to all arrive at once or in the wrong order. Follow the steps below to Suspend and Reactivate Hold Requests.
- View your Hold Requests (will open in new window)
- Click the box adjacent to the Hold Request to be suspended or reactivated.
- Click the Change Status button above or below the list of Requested Titles.
Note how the new status appears under the Status column. It will change from Active to Suspended each time you click the Change Status button.
How to cancel a Hold Request
- View your Hold Requests (will open in new window)
- Click the box adjacent to the Hold Request to be cancelled and click the Cancel Request button above or below the list of Requested Titles.
