Cafes at the library

Two of the libraries, Gungahlin and Woden, have cafes on their premises.

Customers are encouraged to call in and have a coffee or lunch, and read a book, magazine or newspaper. You are also welcome to consume food and drink in the library, disposing of rubbish in a responsible manner.

Cafe Ink at Gungahlin Library

Cafe Ink at Gungahlin opened in June 2011 and is run by Coffee Matters. They are proactive in being environmentally friendly, using recyclable cups and fair trade organic coffee. 

Coffee Matters has over thirty years of hospitality experience and is rapidly becoming one of Australia's leading mobile coffee providers. Specialist barista staff provide quality service with gourmet coffee and a tailored menu.

The menu includes: coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cold drinks, cakes and biscuits, sandwiches and wraps, snacks and light meals.

Cafe Ink at Woden Library

Cafe Ink at Woden opened in May 2010 and was established by Woden Community Service Inc (WCS) as a social enterprise cafe. It sells fair trade products and leaves a small ecological footprint, using environmentally friendly/biodegradable packaging, limiting use of high processed foods, and where possible minimising its carbon footprint, by using local and ethical suppliers.

The cafe offers employment to people who would struggle to maintain employment in an open labour market or get experience to get work. This is seen as a progressive way to engage individuals already supported by WCS to achieve greater social inclusion, valued roles and practical experiences for a better future, through employment, skill development and access to certified training within a supportive commercial environment.

The menu includes: coffee, tea, hot chocolate, organic juices, freshly-made sandwiches, home-made cakes, seasonal salads and light meals.
