Giggle & Wiggle
Giggle & Wiggle is about learning through language play - using interactive rhymes, songs, games and stories specifically chosen for children aged 0-2 years and their parents.
Giggle & Wiggle includes:
- Alphabet recognition
There is a lot of repetition used - the same or similar content during sessions and across sessions - as this is an important way for young children to learn. It also helps babies and parents to participate by singing along and responding to questions.
Giggle & Wiggle is extremely well attended, and the number of participants has become too big at several libraries. With so many people the program is not the meaningful experience it’s meant to be, and we’re increasingly concerned about safety with so many people crowded into the library. We held a trial at Dickson Library in 2016 and are making changes at some libraries for 2017.
We will now offer two Giggle & Wiggle sessions (10.15 am and a repeat session at 11.30 am) at Gungahlin, Dickson and Woden Libraries to provide improved quality, safety and comfort for everyone. Note: There will not be a 10.30 am session at these libraries. We ask that families only come to one session and book a place in advance.
Giggle & Wiggle sessions at our other libraries will not change.
Thank you for your understanding.
Bookings are now required for Giggle & Wiggle sessions at Gungahlin, Dickson and Woden Libraries. They are free. Please book a ticket for each child you will bring to Giggle & Wiggle. Accompanying adults do not need a ticket.
Bookings open at 7.30 am on the morning of the program:
