One card ... A world of resources
Library membership is free and gives you access to over 700,000 books, magazines, DVDs, digital books, electronic resources, and much more.
If you live, work or study in the ACT region, you are eligible to become a member of the library.
How to join the library
Visit any of our libraries in person, or complete the online membership form. You will need:
- Proof of identity - e.g. driver's licence, passport
- Proof of address - e.g. driver's licence, health care card
- If you are under 16 years of age, the signature of a parent or guardian is also required, unless you have proof of independent status
Please note: we are unable to accept membership applications from interstate or overseas.
If your card is lost or stolen please contact the library immediately, as you are responsible for all items borrowed on your membership.
To replace your library membership card, you need to visit the library with proof of identity and address. There is a fee to replace lost or stolen cards.
If you join online, a library membership card will be mailed to the postal address you specify within approximately one week. You will then be able to access eResources and search the library catalogue. To enjoy full access to the library services including requesting items and picking them up from your local library please take your library card, with proof of identity and address, to a local branch to activate.
