HMSS 0171 Women on a Shoestring Records Jigsaw Theatre Company Records |
Eureka! Theatre Company wound up on 31 December 2000 and its activities were assumed by Women On A Shoestring Inc. under leadership of Camilla Blunden.
Eureka! Theatre Company was registered as a business name on 20 March 1987. An application of intention to apply for Incorporation as an association was made on 7 June 1988.
The objects of the company were:
1. the public presentation of theatrical performance
2. the promotion within the general public of the appreciation of the theatrical arts
The company was formally incorporated on 10 May 1990 and called Eureka! Theatre Company Incorporated. With the introduction of the new act came further objectives of the company. These were
1. the development and the presentation of theatrical performances
2. the promotion of performing and the associated arts.
The company had a strong commitment to providing work for local theatre professionals, whilst continually raising the quality of that art, and to providing Australian work where possible.
Eureka! received grants from the Australian Government and ACT Cultural Council. It undertook joint projects with The Street Theatre, ACT and Jigsaw Theatre Company.
