The Institution of Engineers Australia is actively engaged in documenting the history of engineering in the Australian Capital Territory.

Engineering Heritage Canberra, previously known as the Canberra Panel of Engineering Heritage Australia began recording oral histories of people associated with significant engineering projects in the Australian Capital Territory and with specific engineers about their careers in 1997.

The collections in comprised of two of major series of records, both of which are ongoing:
  1. Professional Career Series
  2. Special Projects Series

The Special Projects Series currently documents:

Recordings are on either audio cassette, compact disc or USB flash drive. Documentation accompanying the recordings may include permission forms, biographical notes, interview logs and/or summaries.  Other material such as photographs of interviewees and supporting publications may also be included.
