The Courier cookbook : good cooking from the cookery pages of the Courier, 1968, edited by Norma Allen.

The Courier was a Canberra newspaper, issued weekly, 1966 -1975.

This cookbook was edited by the paper’s cookery editor, Norma Allen, from reader contributed recipes 1966-1968.

Each recipe is accompanied by the name of the contributor, their photograph and some brief biographical information. All except one of the 95 recipes was contributed by a woman.

Most of the contributors lived in Canberra, although some were visitors. Many were from the diplomatic corps and the range of dishes from different national cuisines reflects this diversity.

We provide a contributor index and a recipe index to assist researchers.

The Courier Cookbook : good cooking from the cookery pages of the Courier is available at the ACT Heritage Library H 641.59 COUR. It is not for loan but may be used in the Library during opening hours.
