Audio Book - Cataloguing, Classification and End processing  Requirements

Standard cataloguing and classification requirements as outlined below.

Please Note: For Adult Fiction audiobooks (CD and Cassette) ACT Public Library Genre Fiction Labels are to be used. (See here for more detail )

Audio Books - AB and ABCD

In the ACT Library Service, audio books regardless of format (cassette or CD) are placed on regular shelving.

This means for purposes of the ACTLS, audio books that come packaged in cardboard packaging or cassette/CD jewel cases need to be repackaged into appropriate audio book covers like those supplied by Quickcopy. (http://www.quickcopy.com.au)

  • This may require the original cardboard covers or cover inserts from cassette/CD cases to be trimmed to fit the new audio book cover.

  • End processing also requires:

  • An ACTLS barcode placed centre top of the cover.

  • An ACTLS ‘lent by’ sticker placed towards the bottom of the cover.

  • An ACTLS ownership stamp on an adhesive label inside the cover.

  • A 3M CD security tag on the first volume of a audio book on CD (cassettes do not require a security device).

  • A spine label on the covers spine (covered with a clear protective label if applied to the outside of the cover).

  • Genre Label. Placed on the spine just above the spine label.
